Sam Chatmon

Here's a new piece of Mississippi blues master, Sam Chatmon, similar in style to the Clifton Chenier.  He was part of the Mississippi Sheiks and may have been Charlie Patton's half brother.  Painted in acrylic on a 6 x 12" gallery wrapped canvas.  It's available for purchase.

Esplanade Ridge revisited

I was recently asked to paint a smaller version of the yellow Esplanade Ridge cottage from a couple of years ago.  I painted this on 11 x 14" stretched canvas in acrylic.

A new Gator painting

Here is a 1st in a series of new paintings that I'm doing on hard panels of different varieties. This one is on 1/4" plywood. I'll be working on a few other surfaces like Aquabord or Gesobord next.

Modok by Rick Geary

Here's another commission that I just received from my favorite cartoonist, Rick Geary. I love Rick's take on existing characters, not to mention all of his now classic work for National Lampoon, where I first discovered his work.

Super Bowl Champs!

In celebration of the momentous occasion of the Saints Super Bowl victory, I painted this picture of MVP quarterback Drew Brees hoisting the Lombardi trophy. This one is for all of the Who Dats.

Buddy Holly by Rick Geary

I know I usually use this region of cyberspace to present my own work, but today I had to share the latest in a series of commissioned illustrations done by my pal Rick Geary. Every time one shows up in the mail, I am more amazed. Rick is an immensely talented artist best known for his series of true crime graphic novels published by NBM. Recently, Rick has started covering 20th century crimes and is at work on the World War I era 'Axe-Man' serial murder case based right here in New Orleans. Please take a look at his work. It's great stuff that you'll enjoy.
