Krewe of Orpheus

Here's a new print I've designed for the Krewe of Orpheus' Leviathan float rider. It's being offered as a limited edition print of only 100 pieces to those krewe members. You can see the details here.

T-Bone Walker

I just received this drawing from Rick Geary and had to share. He's drawn a fantastic series of musicians and I think this might be the best one yet. You can see more in the portrait section of his web site here.

Dog Walker

Here's an illustration I put together as part of a series of small edition prints I offered for sale. There were a handful of new drawings, but this was my favorite of the bunch!

A new Gator painting

Here is a 1st in a series of new paintings that I'm doing on hard panels of different varieties. This one is on 1/4" plywood. I'll be working on a few other surfaces like Aquabord or Gesobord next.

Modok by Rick Geary

Here's another commission that I just received from my favorite cartoonist, Rick Geary. I love Rick's take on existing characters, not to mention all of his now classic work for National Lampoon, where I first discovered his work.
I've been selling many of Rick's originals on Ebay. There's a link to all of the current auctions on his site at www.rickgeary.com.

New Stevie Ray Vaughan painting

I painted Stevie in blue quite a long time ago. Here's another stab at it, this time in red.

Super Bowl Champs!

In celebration of the momentous occasion of the Saints Super Bowl victory, I painted this picture of MVP quarterback Drew Brees hoisting the Lombardi trophy. This one is for all of the Who Dats.

Here is a repainted version of a much smaller piece I did awhile ago. Here is a link to the original version. This time out, I painted in acrylics with a less colorful palette.

Buddy Holly by Rick Geary

I know I usually use this region of cyberspace to present my own work, but today I had to share the latest in a series of commissioned illustrations done by my pal Rick Geary. Every time one shows up in the mail, I am more amazed. Rick is an immensely talented artist best known for his series of true crime graphic novels published by NBM. Recently, Rick has started covering 20th century crimes and is at work on the World War I era 'Axe-Man' serial murder case based right here in New Orleans. Please take a look at his work. It's great stuff that you'll enjoy.

I did this piece as an assignment for a screenprinting client. I was pretty happy with the finished product and thought I'd share it here. It's available as a print in my Ebay store. Just click on the link for 'My Ebay Store' on the right side of this page.

Terrence Simien painting

Here's a new painting of Grammy winning Zydeco musician Terrence Simien. I painted this one in acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. I've posted a handful of shots of the paintings in progress. I had a lot of fun with it and especially like the way it turned out.

The End of an Era & Small Treasures

Just as K&B drugstores have seen their last day, the Bluebird Cafe on Prytania Street has ceased operation as of May 31st. My friends at the Bluebird created an institution that lasted for over 20 years, but all good things end and what better way to go out while still on top of their game.

In their honor, my first in a series of 'small treasures' paintings (4" x 4") is dedicated to the Bluebird Cafe.

Corgi redux

Well, not really redux. It's a different Corgi this time. Commissioned to match the small portrait of the departed Harry from last year.

Habaneros in pastel

Here is a revisited version of an oil painting I did months ago. This time, I'm working in pastel on 9 x 12" Canson paper.

Pink Sky

Here is another image in pastel on Canson paper again. It is from a reference photo, also. I really like the bright, impressionistic feeling of these small pastel drawings.

Swamp at Sunset

Here's the next pastel drawing. It is also on Canson paper with an image area of approximately 7 x 10. Enjoy.

Tuscany

Here is a small soft pastel drawing on Canson paper. I like the impressionstic feeling of it. I'm going to work on a few of these and post them as I complete them. It is from a stock photo of the Tuscan countryside.
